A Home Birth Story | Kennebunkport, Maine

While the teeny tiny baby pictured here is creeping up on three years old, this home birth session remains one of the happiest, most fulfilling days of work I have ever had. The summer I was growing a baby of my own, I woke up early to the call, and made it to Kennebunkport just in time to photograph little Millie’s entrance into the world. While a home birth was never in the cards for my own pregnancy, I have the upmost respect for families who choose, and are able, to pursue a home birth. Tiffany of Two Rivers offered exceptional midwifery care, the big brothers were in and out of the room at their choosing, and the family’s golden retriever laid guard in the threshold of the bedroom. Within minutes of the birth, the whole family was resting together in bed, soaking in the magic of a brand new baby. From my own experience- sometimes birth stories aren’t picture perfect. But this one truly was:)
